The set was used in an article in March 1972's Airfix Magazine and first appeared in the 1971 catalogue. I can find no official release date for it. From the outset this set came with two officers in the large box and the figures were moulded in tan plastic until the Humbrol issue which saw them in a darker, almost brown colour.

The first photo shows all seven poses with the set followed by a full set of twenty-nine figures which are numbered 1 to15, missing 16, and then 17 to 28 with the last two prone figures being numbered 31 and 32. Another strange sequence from Airfix! The next photo shows the poses from a Humbrol set in the darker plastic and showing the moulding lugs attached to the prone and kneeling figures. The next one is the 2009 re-release in a similar shade to the Humbrol set. Next is a shot of the two officers numbered 6 and 7 which were available with this set from the very beginning and finally there are two pics showing the different base shapes on the machine-gunners.
